So, I thought I would share a few of the Liberty shop Christmas scenes with you – if this doesn’t get you in the festive spirit then nothing will!
It’s a tradition in my house to buy a Liberty bauble or decoration every year – this year I just couldn’t resist buying beautiful clear glass baubles with a little sparkle. For the children, a ballerina fairy and of course a nutcracker soldier. The choice of decorations is stunning, so every year we take a trip to the world famous Liberty store to choose some beautiful things for the home.
I, and everyone at Alice Caroline would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
So, today I have a whole load of perfect Christmas present for you. My Alice Caroline range of accessories gives a whole load of ideas of things to buy loved ones this Christmas.
The Wiltshire Liberty range you can see above is really beautiful and is a very classic Liberty print. Many of you Liberty lovers will recognise this as a well-known Liberty fabric which makes it a perfect choice this Christmas.
I have lots of contemporary patterns in the collection too – you can see the full colours and patterns below.
I have been perfecting this range over the last 12 months and am so happy with the accessory range. I am using lots of the products myself – Misti Hot Pink is my personal favourite pattern but I do really love them all.
I have also just brought out a brand new range for men! Hurrah – it’s the end of not being able to find a decent wash bag for the men in your lives.
Aubrey Croft is my new range of wash bags for men. Smart and practical, the collection harks back to a time of classical British elegance. The range includes both classic and contemporary Liberty designs, a selection curated from some of our top-selling Liberty fabric prints.
All of my men’s products are made in the UK from Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics with a matt finish water proof coating.

These simply lovely Liberty Vintage Cushions were made by the lovely Dawn in the studio and the equally lovely Sadie Yeomans from Corner House Crafts. They are amazing and we all love them here at Alice Caroline.
This beautiful cushion was made by Dawn.
I absolutely love a Monday morning in the studio – someone is always bringing a new beautiful item made from Liberty fabric in – we all hover over new items admiringly and talking about how things have been made.
This stunning version was made by Sadie.
Dawn’s inspiration was from another cushion that appeared in the studio one day which led to this beautiful design using bright coloured Liberty scraps which was a lovely present for her God Daughter Lottie’s birthday. The Liberty vintage cushions were such a great project that they made the May / June issue of Quilting for You magazine.
The main design of the cushion is using the old traditional Suffolk Puff method – this is simply a circle of fabric which is gathered in on itself to form a smaller, double thickness, textured puffier circle. Originally Suffolk Puffs were made from scraps of fabric and were sewn together to make quilts which was a great way to use up old material. Today, the Suffolk Puff has been adapted and is used to make all kinds of things such as brooches, cushions and hair slides. It’s a really versatile method once you know how to make them.
Here is some of the beautiful Suffolk Puff detail from Sadie’s cushion.
And some detail from Dawn’s cushion.
You will need: (thanks so much to Quilting for You Magazine for these measurements)

The Betsy Range:
They all look so pretty all lined up together. I’ve chosen the prints from traditional well known patterns that are easily recognisable and have been around for over 100 years to beautiful contemporary florals such as Tresco and Floral Eve from the hugely popular Flower Show collection.
The range of products has a wide variety of choice – there are purses, cosmetic bags, wash bags, pencil cases, shower caps, eye masks, hot water bottles, drawstring bags and tote bags. I’ve designed the range to be really useful but yet beautiful.
The gorgeous wash bag has a waterproof finish which is big enough to fit all of your essential products in one beautiful bag. Strong and spacious, the bag is also lined in a waterproof fabric and comes with a lovely satin ribbon zip pull.
The cosmetic bag is a lovely fabric bag which is the perfect size for your make up. It’s made from uncoated fabric with a padded layer and it feels beautiful to the touch. It’s lined with a fabulous hot pink fabric and finished with a satin ribbon zip pull.
There are two lovely purses in the collection which are beautifully padded and soft to the touch. Again, the purses are lined with a fabulous hot pink fabric and finished with a satin ribbon zip pull.
The small flat purse – a lovely little purse, big enough for cash and cards, plus it will fit most phones.
The medium flat purse – is a perfectly-sized purse to organise all those bits and bobs that float around in your handbag.
I was so excited to work with the lovely Jemima from Tied with a Ribbonrecently by providing the gorgeous Liberty fabric for this wonderful Liberty Hexie Kisses Quilt.
Jemima asked me if I could put the colours together to create a new Liberty quilt – and well, quite frankly this is one of my absolutely favourite things to do – so I said YES! Check out my colour selection below.
I love seeing Liberty fabrics together – it just makes me feel so happy to see the vibrancy of colour that Liberty create with their designs and colours. It’s such a joy to work with every day. Working with someone who loves fabrics and colours as much as I do was an honour.
Jemima is ready to sew! Notice the contrasting grey Liberty fabric which helps to bring out the colourful kisses in the design.
The Hexie Kisses pattern is a very clever Jen Kingwell design. She has designed some amazing quilts – all of which would look great with a touch of Liberty.
You can see the lovely close up quilt detail here. Such a pretty design and beautifully accurate!
The colour contrast with the beautiful calming grey makes a great combination.
The grey fabric is Bobo which sadly we have run out of but a fantastic alternative is Laurenit’s on sale at the moment at £11 per metre which is great news.
A great place to start with the rainbow fabrics for the colour in the design is with this fat quarter bundle
The finished Liberty Hexie Kisses Quilt. I think you’ll agree it looks stunning – thanks for sharing your skills and amazing photos with me.
You can see loads of other fantastic projects that Jemima has made on her blog ‘Tied with a Ribbon‘
My Lovely Liberty Easter Eggs – I just had to have a go at making these fab Easter eggs this year – after the success of my Christmas baubles, I thought Liberty would look just as great on an Easter tree. Inspired by Mary Berry and her program about Easter food and decorations, (there was a lovely Easter tree on the Easter feast table – but it would have looked even better in Liberty fabric!) I thought it was about time I had a go.
Admittedly, there’s not that much time before Easter day – um it’s tomorrow but I thought even if you didn’t manage to get these made in time for Sunday, then it would be a fab crafting project over the Easter holidays with little ones. My 8 and 5 year old loved sticking the fabric on the eggs with glue, but better than that, they LOVED blowing the eggs the old fashioned way!
This is also a great way to use up any old scraps of fabric you may have in your stash as it just uses tiny pieces of Liberty.
How to make these Lovely Liberty Easter Eggs
You will need: Eggs, PVA glue, paint brush, thin ribbons, Liberty scraps, scissors.
Step 1: Buy some eggs from the shop – I always buy organic as they taste so good! Put a pin hole in both the top and bottom of the egg making sure you break thorough the shell right inside the egg. Blow through one end of the egg making sure you have a bowl underneath. Blow all of the egg out making sure none is left. (Use the eggs later- perhaps in a cake!)
Step 2: Cut the fabric scraps into small pieces – random shapes is fine.
Step 3: Using a paint brush, glue the cut pieces of fabric onto the egg making sure you use lots of glue. It’s fine to cover over the top of the fabric with glue as it dries clear. Cover the whole egg with the different fabrics. You can use different colours for each egg or go for a rainbow look – both look amazing.
Step 4: Cut a 6inch length of ribbon, fold it in half and dip the ends in glue. Poke the ends into the hole at the top of and brush more glue around the hole.
Let them dry overnight and then hang up at Easter time to decorate your home – or basically anytime as they look great!
I felt inspired to make a Spring-coloured pretty tea towel for Easter. I kept it super easy, so this is a project you can sew in an evening!
All measurements are in inches.
You will need a white tea towel (or a I made one from a piece of white linen 20in x 25in. To hem the edges: fold 1/4in over along one side, press, fold another 1/4in over, press and stitch through all layers, repeat at three remaining sides.
Wide strip of Liberty fabric: 6.5in wide, x 21in long (or whatever the width of your tea towel is). I used Emma and Georgina
Medium strip of Liberty fabric 4in wide x 21in long. I used Gracey
Thin strip of Liberty fabric 2.5in x 21in long. I used Rachel

2. Repeat step one with both other pieces of liberty fabric.
3. position your widest strip of Liberty on your tea towel, 4in from the bottom. pin in place.
Stitch Liberty fabric onto tea towel, along long edges, close to the fold. (leave ends overhanging the edges of the tea towel.
position Medium stip in centre of wide strip and repeat step 4.
Repeat steps 5 and 4 with thin strip of Liberty fabric.
At overhanging end of Liberty, fold over 1/4in, press and fold 1/4in over again behind (at back of) tea towel. Stitch in place close to edge.
