Liberty Confetti Quilt by Tied With A Ribbon

I love working with amazing designers and so, when Jemima said she wanted to make this Liberty Confetti Quilt with the new exclusives, I jumped at the chance.  She’s based in Australia and designs quilt patterns.  She loves Liberty fabrics and so I love to collaborate with her. This Liberty Confetti Quilt is the perfect quilt for my exclusives as it shows the fabric off really well.  The fabrics can really shine set against the pale background Tana Lawn. The exclusives all cut up and ready to start piecing with the nude Tana Lawn. The exclusives are beginning to shine …

Beautiful Liberty Patchwork Bag

This Beautiful Liberty Patchwork Bag has been made by Dawn from the studio.  Dawn is in a sewing group and is always arriving at the studio with another beautiful Liberty item.  It’s got red Jelly handles by Lecien and is made using 2.5 inch Liberty squares. The deep red binding and red handles look great with the random Liberty squares.  Many of us have a spare stash of Liberty lurking in our fabric cupboard.  Mine is literally huge as I can’t bear to part with one off or vintage pieces.  Dawn has put together pinks and reds to give this …

Autumn Floral Liberty Dress

I recently had a chance to have a whole day of sewing and at the end of a very happy day of sewing I’d made this Floral Liberty Dress. It was such a treat to sit at my sewing machine and sew for me.  I’m so often sewing until late at night finishing off a quilt project, so this felt a little decadent.  Sewing without pressure is always a lot of fun. I’ve teamed it up with a colourful cardigan but there are so many colours in the fabric that there are many colours you could choose.  It’s also really …

Midnight Blue Liberty Quilt – Featured in Today’s Quilter

I’ve recently designed this Midnight Blue Liberty Quilt for Today’s Quilter Magazine.  I had a vision to make a blue and white quilt, inspired by the willow pattern found on many pieces of china.  I love this old pattern.  The raw edged central panel was inspired by Chinese wallpapers (like the ones you see at Chatsworth).  I bought some huge platters at an auction recently and wanted to use these designs for my most recent quilt.  It’s got a pretty awesome central applique panel which I love on the white background.  Among other flora and fauna, this panel has both a …

Beautiful Liberty Blouse

Sara from the studio has had this Beautiful Liberty Blouse made for her and I wanted to share it with you.  It’s a really sweet blouse and I especially love the sleeve detail. Sara said that she has always loved Donna Leigh and really wanted something made from it.  She said “I have a blouse at home that I really love and wanted to replicate it”.  Sara had the top made for her by a lovely local lady called Jill Mooney from The Sewing Room.  She’s made it really well and Sara is really pleased with it. The fabric:  Donna …

Festive Wiltshire Dress

This Festive Wiltshire Dress is the last of the series of projects by the lovely Lewes Sewing Bees.  Gill Nicholls has made this gorgeous dress using one of my exclusive Wiltshire fabrics. I love this dress.  It can be worn at the festive drinks parties or for the rest of the year for any special occasion.  Gill has certainly got her Christmas drinks party outfit sorted for this year.  It has spurred me on to get sewing for my Christmas outfit.  Thank you to the lovely Pauline from the studio for modelling it here.   I asked Gill a few …

Liberty Kimono Jacket

Anna has made this super stylish Liberty Kimono Jacket using a gorgeous Liberty silk.  This jacket is perfect for a summer evening out.  It can be worn with jeans to create a casual yet smart look.  The shine and drape of the fabric really makes the garment shimmer and hang really beautifully. The fabric:  It’s called Juno’s Feather and is silk satin which drapes fabulously with a luminous high shine.  It’s edged with some silk left over from another project in a rather pretty colour.  If this silk isn’t to your taste then there are other Liberty silks too. The Liberty …

Beautiful Betsy Dress

Beautiful Betsy Dress

The lovely Tracy Aplin (or Sewing Tracy as she is also known) has made this Beautiful Betsy Dress. The pattern Tracy has used for this Beautiful Betsy Dress is called Blitz by Sew La Di Da Vintage.  It’s a 1940’s style inspired dress.  The original pattern has an open neck and a Peter Pan collar.  Tracy changed the neckline to a curved edge and lost the collar which means it is a much simpler make. Tracy chose the new Alice Caroline Exclusive Betsy Pink Gold which looks really pretty and summery.  The gold in the fabric gives just a hint …

Liberty Cathedral Classic Cushions

I am delighted to showcase these stunning Liberty Cathedral Classic Cushions.  These beautiful Cathedral window cushions have been made by Suzanne Campion, one of the lovely Alice Caroline customers.  Suzanne is a firm supporter of the Quilt SOS project and so far, has made many quilts for us to take to new worthy homes.  She stepped in at the last minute last year to make lots of extra quilts so that each child would receive one in Vilnius, Lithuania – thank you so much Suzanne! Suzanne told me a little about herself and her sewing journey.  “My Gran taught me to …
